Ensure you use non-slip surfaces to enable your dog to perform this safely. Using seperate foot targets for the front and back paws helps your dog to perform this successfully. Lure a treat down in front of your dog’s front paws. Sometimes a hand on their forearms helps them to understand what is being asked. We are looking for elbow flexion, a pause, before returning to neutral. Ensure you reward and praise your dog as soon as they get it right so they understand what is being asked of them.
