This is the last thing we re-introduce to our recovering dogs as it involves so much movement
where the dogs aren’t necessarily thinking about what they are doing with their bodies and so risk of injury is high.
If you have another dog at home, keeping them separate or supervised so they are not playing is advised. The same applies for us humans and our play interaction with our dogs. Until your dog is back to fitness, we do not want to be attempting retrieves, running with owners, wild swimming and rough tug playing.
Ball throwing is a big no!
There are lots of other ways to stimulate your recovering dog that are all low impact and so put less stress through your dog’s musculoskeletal system. Just ask your therapist for advice and ideas.
