Ensure exercise performed on an non-slip surface
The objective of this exercise is to engage your dog’s pelvic and spinal mobility muscles, as well as limb flexors and hypaxial muscles.
First teach your dog to sit, and lay down. Once in good form, lure your dog to take one small “creep” forward, and reward – ensure to keep the reward low to the ground so your dog stays in the sphinx down form. You can use a table, or lower object to encourage the crawl.
Perform as many steps, reps and durations that are prescribed by your physiotherapist.
This exercise is good for limb awareness, co-ordination, and active joint range of motion.
