Intended to prevent joint contracture, maintain neurological pathways between the brain and lower extremities and promote synovial fluid circulation.
With your pet lying down:
For the elbow/wrist and knee/ankle joints place one hand, palm up, on the pad of your pets foot. With the other hand place it palm down on either the hip joint or shoulder blade. Gently compress the joint/entire leg. This motion should not be uncomfortable.
For the hip joint, the rear leg needs to be slightly abducted, gentle oscillations are performed through pressure at the knee joint.
For the shoulder joint, one hand needs to stabilize the shoulder joint while the other applies oscillations through the elbow.
Alternatively this may be performed in a standing position.
