We will have discussed the most appropriate balance equipment for your dog to perform this exercise. Ensure that the equipment you use provides a non-slip surface & is of the right size so that your dog can safely perform the movements.
First, ensure that your dog has the endurance to stand on the equipment for 10 seconds. Once this has been achieved after conditioning, you can move forward to this exercise.
The aim of this exercise is to ensure your dog performs this in a controlled, purposeful manner. Ideally your dog will learn to perform this moving the hind limbs only.
If your dog shows signs of fatigue, stop the exercise & log repetitions to make track of progress.
ADVANCE: SIT TO DOWN ON BALANCE
You can incorporate this move, ensuring that you reverse the movement back into sit after 2 seconds to complete the movement, with the aim of slow purposeful movement.
