Step-ups
Set up a non-slip platform in a comfortable environment for you and your dog. There needs to be space either side of the platform, and useful for the platform to be against a wall.
Acclimatise your dog to the platform with treats, and allow them time to get used to the area.
Once comfortable, lure your dog’s front legs onto the step. Before they take their hindlimbs to step up, pause the dog there with a treat lure.
Use your other hand to lift their targetted limb onto the step.
Use your hand to hold the paw in place on the step, then use the treat to lure the dog to “step-up” onto the step. The dog should use the limb to push their weight onto the step, effectively targeting the muscles on the leg.
