Chief Complaint / Areas of Concern : Approx 2.5 weeks ago ball throwing in the garden. Suddenly pulled up in the garden & wouldn’t weight bare on the leg. Has in the past had issues with front legs also. This wouldn’t clear up so got xrays & diagnosed with CCrLR of the LH.

Owner’s Goal : Discussed the prognosis for conservative management – difficulty to fit a brace on small dogs & immobilisation essential for scar tissue formation. Short term support via vet wrap Recommended lateral suture surgery if possible due to the extent of damage & lack of stability Advise on home management to prevent worsening/ other leg having problems/ exacerbating FL loading

Medication history : Meloxicom

Daily Activity : Got another dog at home – Ollie – Romanian Rescue – twice the size of TC. Get on well together. Play fight with each other. Full house access – 2 story house, garden access largely grass, bits of concrete. Flooring: kitchen = laminate, living & upstairs are carpeted, hallways are laminate. Tends to run around inside the house too – likes to have laundry capsule thrown. Likes to sleep on owner’s bed at night time

Current Limitations : Walks daily – likes the beach, park mainly, sometimes pavement walks. Generally off lead. Ball obsessed – in the garden, park, beach etc.

Static Observations : NWB to toe touching LH, kyphosis.

Palpation Assessment : Positive cranial drawer of L/stifle – this is very unstable & TC is unable to put any weight through the leg due to instability. Carpal & elbow joints are restricted due to cranial loading as a compensation for LH. R/shoulder is mainly affected.

Short Term : Vet wrap applied to LH to stabilise the stifle when loading. Enhance healing, reduce pain and inflammation, improve scar quality, improve stability.

Long Term : Reduce secondary compensations, improve mobility, return limbs to previous function.
